NOTES:
[1]  Elystan Glodrydd, heir of the Buellt Dynasty, took the neighboring kingdom of Fferlys from the king of Brycheiniog c. 1020.  The latter's ancestors had taken it earlier from ancestors of Elystan. The early claims that his godfather was Aethelstan, king of Wessex, are a myth; the latter died over 50 years before Elystan was born
[2] The marriage of Cadwgan with a lady of the First Powys Dynasty was arranged by Elystan in his alliance with the king of Powys, his powerful neighbor to the north
[3] Einion Hen (called "the old" since his son was also named Einion) lived at Mochdre in Ceri.  Both names suffered scribal corruption into "Einion Penn of Morchier".  Einion's line became extinct with his granddaughters and his half of Mochdre eventually went to Llewelyn, son of Einion Hen's brother Madog Fychan.

[2] Dwnn i, 313; Dwnn ii, 152: for the marriage of Cadwgan; Dwnn i, 139 also cites his marriage, but calls the lady "Elen"

[4] Dwnn ii, 24 for the marriage of Dyddgu ferch Idnerth
[5] ABT 14 for the marriage of Dyddgu ferch Madog
[6] Dwnn i, 111 for the marriage of Sian ferch Einion Hen of Mochdre; there was another Einion Hen in this extended family, but he held Cefnllys.  It was that man's great-grandson who married a Mochdre heiress and combined the two manors
