#28 - LLEWELYN OF IS CERDIN

Bartrum presents a single pedigree as:

"Llewelyn, Lord of Iscerdin, ap Hoedliw ap Llawr ap Asser ap Dyfnfarch ap Morydd, king of Cardigan, Anno Domini 830, ap Llywarch Llwyd ap Carwed ap Gwgan ap Meirchion Gul ap Gorwst ledlwm ap Ceneu ap Coel godebog"

In his notes to this pedigree, Bartrum says "Llewelyn of Iscerdin, Ceredigion, was born c. 1200.  The manuscript authority (Dale Castle Manuscript) is late, c. 1700.  Morydd ap Llywarch Llwyd brenin Cardigan is mentioned in the spurious Brut Aberpergwm and Brut Ieuan Brechfa as having died in 830.  If these chronicles were the composition of Iolo Morgannwg, he must have drawn the entry from this pedigree".

OUR ANALYSIS:

Please refer to our paper "Llewelyn ap Hoedliw, Lord of Is Cerdin" where we analyze this pedigree in detail.  We estimate his birthdate as c. 1170.  The paper is at the following link:
