THE FAMILY OF CARADOG ap RHYS GRYG
                                             By Darrell Wolcott

On his chart "Rhys ap Tewdwr 18", Peter Bartrum presents his version of one line of the family of Rhys Gryg ap Lord Rhys who were found in the commote of Gwerthrynion by the mid-13th century. Our analysis suggests multiple conflations exist in Bartrum's presentation.  We found there were 4 separate family lines formed of men with the names on this chart, 3 of which are NOT descended from Rhys Gryg.

FAMILY 1:

The single family that WAS descended from Rhys Gryg appears to have relocated to Ceri by the end of the 14th century.  Caradog was a younger base son of Rhys Gryg and while his mother is not identified, it is likely  she was a lady of Gwerthrynion.
